How Do I Add a Personal Message Using Templates and Variables?

When you notify people as you approve, assign, or deactivate, you can add a personal message, reuse a saved template, and drop in details that fill themselves in.

1. Where can I add a message?

On the surfaces where you notify people, such as approving an applicant, assigning someone to an opportunity or shift, adding someone to a sequence, and deactivating. Turn on Notify users to reveal the message box.

2. How do I write and reuse a message?

Write your note in "Add a message (optional)," which shows "Insert message here..." until you start typing. To reuse saved wording, use Load template, which opens Select a template with a Search templates box. You can also create a new one with New template.

3. How do I add someone's name or details automatically?

Use the insert-variable button in the toolbar. Pick a placeholder and it drops in at your cursor, for example $first_name (First name), $opportunity_title (Opportunity title), or $shift_date (Shift date). Each choice shows an example of how it will fill in.

4. Why did a placeholder show up as plain text in a message?

If a placeholder cannot be filled in for the message you are sending, Vome shows a note: "These variables will not be filled in for this message and will be sent exactly as written." In that case the placeholder is sent as written. Some surfaces also show a character counter.
