Each organization on VOME has its own page. This page can be shared publicly, and it also acts as a Portal Page for volunteers who are already connected to your organization on VOME.
On this page, volunteers may see a Featured Opportunities section. Which Opportunities appear there depends on the Visibility setting of each Opportunity.
If you want to add or remove Opportunities from your organization’s page, you need to update the Visibility setting for those Opportunities.
The Visibility setting controls whether an Opportunity appears in the Featured Opportunities section of your organization’s page.
When an Opportunity is Public, it is visible to anyone who visits your organization’s page.
This is the best option when you want the Opportunity to be widely discoverable and available for open recruitment.
When an Opportunity is Semi-private, it is only visible to VOME users who meet the conditions you set.
For example, you may want the Opportunity to be visible only to users who:
are in your active Database
have completed a specific onboarding Sequence
meet other profile-based conditions
This is useful when you want the Opportunity to be discoverable, but only by the right audience.
When an Opportunity is Private, it does not appear on your organization’s page for browsing.
This means users cannot discover the Opportunity through the Featured Opportunities section or move through its recruitment process unless they have access to the private link.
A Private Opportunity is usually best when:
admins are manually assigning the Opportunity
the Opportunity is not intended for open recruitment
volunteers should not browse for it on their own
Once an admin assigns a Private Opportunity, the volunteer becomes approved for it.
Before updating an Opportunity’s Visibility, think about who should be able to discover it.
As a best practice:
use Public when the Opportunity should be visible to everyone
use Semi-private when the Opportunity should only be visible to users who meet certain conditions
use Private when the Opportunity should not be browsable and will only be managed by admins
In most cases, the Featured Opportunities section should only display Opportunities that are meant to be discoverable, whether that is by everyone or by a more targeted group of users.
Follow these steps to update the Visibility setting for one or more Opportunities:
Go to your Opportunities page.
Use the checkboxes on the left side to select the Opportunity or Opportunities you want to update.
Open the Actions dropdown.
Click Edit Visibility.
Choose the Visibility setting you want to apply.
Save your changes.
After you update the Visibility setting:
Public Opportunities will appear on your organization’s page for everyone
Semi-private Opportunities will appear only to users who meet the required conditions
Private Opportunities will not appear for browsing on the page
