How Do I Control Message Editing and Deletion in Chat?
You can decide whether people are allowed to change or remove their own messages after sending.
1. Where do I find these controls?
Go to the Chats page, click the gear icon (Chat settings), and open Message deletion and editing.
2. What can I control?
- Don't let users delete their own messages. By default users can delete their own messages. Turn this on to keep every message in place once sent.
- Don't let users edit their own messages. By default users can edit their own messages. Turn this on to keep every message exactly as it was sent.
3. Do these rules apply to admins too?
Admins are covered by two separate settings, Prevent admins from deleting their own messages and Prevent admins from editing their own messages. These are set by the account holder and apply to every admin in the portal.
4. Why can I not delete or edit a message I sent?
Your organization has turned on one of the settings above, which locks messages in place once they are sent.
