How do I hide flexible shifts from the attendance kiosk?

How do I hide flexible shifts from the attendance kiosk?

What is a flexible shift?

A flexible shift is a shift that is created on the spot at the kiosk rather than scheduled in advance. When someone arrives without a reservation on the schedule, a flexible shift can be created so the person can be checked in right away. On the platform, these appear under the label "Flexible Schedule."

By default, flexible shifts appear on the kiosk roster next to your regular scheduled shifts, so they can be checked out the usual way.

What does the "Hide flexible shifts from this kiosk" setting do?

This setting controls whether flexible shifts appear on the kiosk roster. It affects only what is displayed on that kiosk. It does not change how shifts are created or how time is recorded.

  • Off (the default): flexible shifts are shown alongside your regular scheduled shifts on the roster.
  • On: flexible shifts are filtered out of every roster and day view on that kiosk. Your regular scheduled shifts are not affected.

Why would I turn this on?

Turn it on when you want a kiosk to show only pre-planned, scheduled shifts. For example, if a kiosk is dedicated to one specific scheduled program, hiding flexible shifts keeps ad hoc shifts from cluttering the list.

Where do I find this setting?

The setting lives on the kiosk create and edit form, the same place where you name the kiosk and choose which opportunities it covers. Look for "Hide flexible shifts from this kiosk" and turn it on or off.

Is this an organization-wide setting?

No. It is configured per kiosk. Two kiosks in the same organization can behave differently, so one kiosk can show flexible shifts while another hides them. Turning it on for one kiosk has no effect on your other kiosks.

Does hiding flexible shifts prevent them from being created?

No. This setting only controls visibility on the roster. It does not stop flexible shifts from being created, and it does not delete any that already exist. They are simply not displayed on that kiosk.

Will I still be able to check someone out of a hidden flexible shift?

Not from the kiosk where the shift is hidden. If a flexible shift is filtered out of the roster, it cannot be checked out at that kiosk because it does not appear there. In that case, check-out needs to happen from another kiosk where flexible shifts are visible, or from the mobile app.

Keep this in mind if a single kiosk is set to hide flexible shifts, since any flexible shift tied to that kiosk will not be available for check-out on that same screen.

Does this affect the mobile app?

No. This is a kiosk-only setting and has no effect on the mobile app.

Quick answers

A flexible shift I expected is missing from the kiosk roster.
Check whether "Hide flexible shifts from this kiosk" is turned on for that kiosk. When it is on, flexible shifts are intentionally filtered out. Your scheduled shifts are not affected.

I turned the setting on. Did it remove the shift or the recorded hours?
No. Hiding flexible shifts changes only what appears on the kiosk roster. Any shifts that were created and any hours that were recorded stay intact and continue to appear in your reports.

A user still sees their own "Flexible Schedule" entry. Why?
The setting hides flexible shifts from the kiosk roster only. It does not remove the shift itself, so it can still appear in other views.
