Announcement-only mode turns a chat into a one-way channel where only admins post and everyone else can read but not reply. It is useful for updates you want people to see without a thread of responses.

1. How do I make one chat announcement-only?

Open the chat, click the gear icon in the chat header, and turn on Only admins can send messages.

2. Can I do this for every chat of one type at once?

Yes. On each card in Auto-generated chats (Chats page, gear icon, Auto-generated chats), use the Only admins can send messages row with Turn on all or Turn off all.

3. Can new chats start out as announcement-only automatically?

Yes. In Auto-generated chats, turn on New chats default to only allowing admins to send messages.

4. Can I set it while creating a site, group, or category?

Yes. In the Communication section of the create or edit form, use the Announcements only (admins post) toggle.
