How does pausing new reservations work on Vome?

How does pausing new reservations work on Vome?

This setting is a manual switch that closes an opportunity to new reservations. It is one of the Scheduling controls on an opportunity's settings page, and it applies only to the opportunity where you turn it on. It is off by default.

What does "Pause new reservations" do?

It is a manual on and off switch that closes the opportunity to new reservations. When it is enabled (paused, or "closed"), users cannot make new reservations on that opportunity's shifts, and the shifts are hidden from the user's calendar and reserve list. When it is disabled (the default), reservations work normally.

Think of it as a way to stop intake immediately, for example while you reorganize a schedule, handle a staffing issue, or temporarily take an opportunity offline without unpublishing it.

What happens to the shifts while reservations are paused?

While paused, the opportunity's shifts disappear entirely from the user-facing calendar and reserve list. The opportunity itself still appears, but instead of a list of shifts, the user sees a "Reservations closed" banner on it. This lets you signal that the opportunity is on hold without deleting or unpublishing anything.

What happens if a user tries to reserve anyway?

If a user somehow attempts a reservation while the opportunity is paused, for instance because they had the page open before you paused it, the reservation is rejected with a clear "reservations are currently closed" message. The reserve button should already be unavailable, but the block is also enforced on Vome's side, so a stale page cannot slip a reservation through.

Does pausing affect people who already reserved?

No. Pausing only blocks new reservations and hides the shifts from browsing. Existing reservations are untouched, and anyone already signed up keeps their spot. When you unpause, the shifts reappear and reservations work normally again.

How is this different from scheduling when reservations open?

Pausing is a manual switch you toggle yourself, with no automatic end. It stays closed until you turn it back off. Scheduling when reservations open is a time-based gate that opens automatically at a date and time you pick. You can use both together. If you do, keep in mind that a manual pause always takes priority, so the opportunity will stay closed until you unpause it, even if the scheduled open time has passed.
