Opportunity Visibility on Vome

Opportunity Visibility on Vome

When publishing an opportunity, you can control exactly who can see and access it using Vome's visibility settings. This gives you full control over your recruitment, whether you want broad public exposure, a targeted private invite, or something in between.

Visibility can be configured when creating an opportunity or updated at any time from the opportunity dashboard.

1. What are the visibility options for an opportunity?

There are three visibility levels available:

Public — The opportunity is fully open and discoverable. It will appear on your organization's profile page, on opportunity boards, and is accessible to anyone with a direct link. This is the most open setting with no restrictions.

Private (Private with Link) — The opportunity is not listed anywhere publicly. It will not appear on your profile page or any opportunity board. It is only accessible to users who have been given the direct shareable link, which you can copy directly from the visibility settings panel.

This is ideal for targeted, invitation-based recruitment, for example, emailing a specific group and sharing the link directly.

Semi-Private — The opportunity is listed publicly on your profile page and opportunity boards, but only users who meet your configured eligibility conditions will be able to see and access it. All others are automatically filtered out.

2. Where can I update an opportunity's visibility?

You can set visibility during opportunity creation (Step 2: Customize) or edit it at any time from the opportunity dashboard by navigating to the Visibility panel and clicking Edit.

3. How does Semi-Private visibility work?

With Semi-Private, you define one or more eligibility conditions. Users must meet all enabled conditions to see the opportunity. You can mix and match conditions to match your organization's needs.

The available conditions are:

Active in Database — Only shows the opportunity to users in your Active list. Users in your Archived list will not see it.

Finished Sequence — Only shows to users who have completed a sequence. You can optionally specify one or more particular sequences, or leave it open so that completing any sequence qualifies.

Approved for Any Opportunity — Only shows to users who are already approved for at least one opportunity. You can optionally narrow this to specific opportunities.

Approved in Same Category — Only shows to users already approved for another opportunity within the same category or program.

Age Gate — Only shows to users who meet an age requirement you define. You can set conditions such as "18 or older" or "under 16." Since age is optional during sign-up, you also choose what happens when a user's age is unknown, either hide the opportunity from them or show it regardless.

Site Association — Only shows to users who are assigned to a site. You can optionally specify particular sites, or allow any site assignment to qualify.

Profile Tags — Only shows to users based on their profile tags. You can require users to have any of your selected tags, all of your selected tags, or none of your selected tags.

4. How do users discover opportunities?

Users can find opportunities in a few ways:

  • Opportunity Board — A browse/discovery page listing available opportunities. Public and Semi-Private opportunities (where the user is eligible) appear here.
  • Organization Profile Page — Your public profile includes a "Featured Opportunities" section listing your Public and Semi-Private opportunities.
  • Direct Link — Any opportunity can be accessed via a direct link regardless of visibility type. For Private opportunities, this is the only way users can access them.
  • Personal Dashboard — Once a user is approved or assigned to an opportunity, it will always appear on their personal dashboard, regardless of visibility setting.

5. What happens when an opportunity is deactivated?

When an opportunity is deactivated, its visibility is automatically set to Private, regardless of what was previously configured. This ensures the opportunity is no longer discoverable while inactive.

6. What happens if no eligibility conditions are enabled on a Semi-Private opportunity?

If you set an opportunity to Semi-Private but do not enable any conditions, it will behave the same as a Public opportunity, all users will be considered eligible and able to see it.

InfoNote: Semi-Private visibility and certain eligibility condition features may require a Pro plan or above. If you do not see the full condition editor, you may be prompted to upgrade your plan.
