Reporting setup decisions on Vome: what to settle before a deadline

Setting up your reports: the decisions to make first

Overview

Most of what you need is already built, so reporting work is usually filtering, choosing columns, and saving that arrangement so you never rebuild it. The time to do that is before a funder asks, not during.

This page gathers the articles that settle those decisions. They live in the Setup Guide section of this knowledge base, and cover what to choose and why. The rest of this section covers how to do it.

1. What should I read before a reporting deadline?

  • Reports, custom views and Manage fields Which reports you already have, how Manage fields sets your columns, and the trap where rearranging without saving quietly changes the default for your Active and Archived lists.
  • Trackers, KPIs and goals When a report should become a number you watch over time. Reports answer what happened, analytics answers whether it is improving.

2. Why are those articles somewhere else?

An article in this knowledge base can only be filed in one section, so the Setup Guide holds them and this page links to them rather than repeating them. You will find them under For administrators, in the Setup Guide, stage 6, Manage.

3. What is in the rest of this section?

The report templates and the how-to articles: running each built-in report, filtering, and exporting to Excel, CSV or PDF. Exports inherit whatever column layout you saved, so it is worth reading the articles above first.
