Understanding the Difference Between "Data Filters" and "View Filters" in Reports
In the Reports module of Vome Volunteer, there are two types of filters you can apply when generating and reviewing reports: Data Filters and View Filters. Understanding the difference between them ensures you get the right insights from your reports.
1. Data Filters (Applied Before Running the Report)
Purpose: Data filters determine which profiles and quantitative data are included in the report before it is generated.
How It Works:
- When you set data filters and then run the report, the system filters the profiles and quantitative data based on the selected criteria.
- Example: In the Shifts & Hours by Profile report, if you filter by date range and Opportunity title, the report will only include profiles that:
- Had reserved shifts or logged hours within the selected date range
- Participated in the specific opportunity chosen
- The quantitative data (e.g., total shifts and hours logged) will only reflect data related to the filtered opportunities.
2. View Filters (Applied After Running the Report)
Purpose: View filters allow you to further refine the displayed data after the report has been generated, without altering the quantitative data.
How It Works:
- View filters do not change the total numbers or aggregate data.
- Instead, they help organize the report view for easier analysis.
- Example: After running a report, you can use view filters to display only certain profiles based on their names, email, phone number or profile tags but the total shifts and hours will remain unchanged.
