What is the Flexible Schedule option for shift reservations?
When Flexible Schedule is enabled, volunteers will be able to create their own shifts by indicating the date and time slot as to when they are planning to volunteer.
This feature is mainly used for opportunities that do not have a predefined schedule of shifts with specific meeting times. Flexible Schedule is often enabled for remote or virtual volunteering opportunities.
How to Enable Flexible Schedule
Option 1: Enable on an Individual Opportunity
- Navigate to the Opportunities module from the left-hand navigation.
- Click on an opportunity to open the Opportunity Dashboard.
- Go to the Schedule tab.
- Locate the Flexible Schedule section and click Edit.
- Select Enable and save your changes.
Option 2: Enable in Bulk
You can update Flexible Schedule across multiple opportunities at once:
- Go to the Opportunities module.
- Select the opportunities you want to update.
- Click the Actions button.
- Choose Update Schedule Settings.
- Locate the Flexible Schedule option, select Enable using the radio button, and apply the update.
How to Identify Opportunities with Flexible Schedule Enabled
From your opportunity cards in the Opportunities module, you can quickly see which opportunities have Flexible Schedule turned on. A blue calendar icon will appear highlighted in blue on the opportunity card when Flexible Schedule is active. If the icon appears dimmed, Flexible Schedule is disabled for that opportunity.
How Flexible Schedule Shifts Appear in the Schedule
When viewing shifts in the Schedule, any shift created under a Flexible Schedule opportunity will be denoted by a blue calendar icon on the shift card. This makes it easy to distinguish flexible shifts from fixed shifts at a glance.
