The Orientation step is where you tell someone about the session that introduces them to your organization: when it runs, where to go, how to join, and what to read beforehand. It is a step for logistics and instructions rather than something the user submits.
It is a title, a description, and an optional attachment. The description carries the session details, so it is the right place for dates and times, an address or a joining link, and links to whatever material you want people to see first, such as a handbook, a shared drive folder or a welcome video.
Open Sequences in the left-hand navigation and open the sequence you are building.
Click + Add a step.
Choose Orientations.
Pick an entry under ADD A PREVIOUSLY SAVED ENTRY, or click New to create one.
Enter the title and description, attach your orientation material if you have a file for it, then save.

Put the sessions in your Schedule rather than in the step description, so you are not editing the step every time the dates change:
Create an opportunity for your orientation, with one shift per session.
Point the step description at it so users reserve the session they can attend.
Take attendance on the shift as you would for any other shift.

The user sees the step title, your description with any links you added, and a download button if you attached a file. There is nothing to upload or submit.
This step runs Pending, then Complete. There is nothing for Vome to validate, so either you mark it complete once you know the person attended, or the user marks themselves complete with a Mark as complete button, depending on the step's settings.
Use a step type that records the action instead:
Video, which only completes once the user has actually watched it.
Fillable form, for a short acknowledgement or a few questions about the session.
Fillable PDF, when you need a signed acknowledgement.
Course, when the orientation is really a set of lessons with a pass mark.
Many organizations use both: an Orientation step for the live session, and one of the above for the part that has to be evidenced.
Orientation steps carry session logistics, instructions and links.
Put recurring sessions in your Schedule and point the description at them.
Reserving or attending an orientation shift does not complete the step.
Statuses run Pending, then Complete, marked by you or by the user.
Use Video, Fillable form, Fillable PDF or Course when you need evidence.
