Most of what goes wrong with a schedule was decided before the first shift was ever created. This page gathers the articles that settle those decisions, so you can read them in one place before you build.

Those articles live in the Setup Guide section of this knowledge base. They cover what to choose and why. The rest of this section covers how to do it.

1. What should I read before I build my schedule?

• How is Vome structured? What a shift actually is, and why people only see shifts for opportunities they have been approved to.
• Should I organize by program or by event? The decision that determines whether a shift is a task, a whole event, or just a date and a time.
• What are shift policies, and which do I need? The four reusable rules you attach to a shift: waitlist, notifications, group reservations and form submissions.
• How do I run orientation and training sessions? How a session becomes a bookable shift, so attendance is recorded the same way as everything else.

2. Why are those articles somewhere else?

An article in this knowledge base can only be filed in one section, so the Setup Guide holds them and this page links to them rather than repeating them. You will find them under For administrators, in the Setup Guide, stage 4, Operate.
