By default, users in a sequence are moved from step to step by an administrator. However, you can give users more flexibility by enabling navigation settings at the step level. These settings let users go back to a previous step, skip a step, or mark themselves as complete on their own.
When this setting is enabled on a step, users can return to a previous step in the sequence on their own.
When a user goes back:
This is useful if a user submitted something incorrectly or needs to revisit a prior step before continuing.
When this setting is enabled, users can advance past a step without completing it.
When a user skips a step:
Use this for optional steps or situations where not all users will need to complete every step in the sequence.
For step types that do not have an automatic completion event (such as Interview, Training, Orientation, or Custom steps), you can allow users to mark the step as complete on their own.
This setting is only available if the sequence-level self-tracking master toggle is turned on. If self-tracking is disabled at the sequence level, this option will be locked on all steps.
When enabled, completing a step will automatically advance the user to the next step without requiring admin action. On the final step, you can enable auto-finish, which will mark the user as finished in the sequence automatically when the last step is completed.
These navigation settings apply independently to each step. You can have some steps that are fully self-directed and others that require admin advancement, all within the same sequence.
