Creating an event on Vome allows you to recruit and manage volunteers efficiently. On Vome, an event is created as an “Opportunity”, and it must be assigned to a Category, which acts like a folder to help organize your events.
This guide will walk you through how to create your event, define roles, and manage access to specific shifts when needed.
Go to the "Opportunities" section in your admin dashboard.
Click "Create Opportunity".
Enter your event details (title, description, location, etc.).
During this step, you’ll be prompted to assign the opportunity to a Category:
You can select an existing category (like “Events”)
Or click “Add Category” to create a new one (e.g., “Annual Fundraiser”)
📁 This step works like assigning your event to a folder. You can use one broad category for all events or create a separate category per event — it’s up to your organization’s preference.
Complete the rest of the form and publish when ready.
📌 Remember: The Opportunity is your Event. Volunteers will apply to this opportunity to access its associated roles and shifts.
Once your event (opportunity) is created:
Go to the “Schedule” tab within the opportunity.
Click "Create Shifts".
Set a clear Shift Title — this defines the volunteer role (e.g., “Registration Desk” or “Setup Crew”).
Select the date, start and end time.
Add the number of volunteer spots available.
Save the shift.
✅ All volunteers approved for the event will see all published shifts by default.
If you need certain shifts to be visible only to specific volunteers:
While creating or editing a shift, scroll to the bottom of the shift editor.
Open the “Advanced reservation restriction” section.
Choose the appropriate profile tag (e.g., “First Aid Certified”).
Only users approved for the opportunity and with the selected profile tag will be able to view and sign up for this shift.
This feature is useful for managing shifts that require special qualifications or targeted access.
Begin by creating your Opportunity, which represents your event.
Assign it to a Category — like putting the event in a folder.
Define Shifts with clear titles to indicate volunteer roles and schedules.
Use Advanced restrictions to control access to certain shifts when needed.
Following these steps will help you manage your events on Vome effectively and with greater control.
