Customizing the impact value metric in Vome allows your organization to generate more accurate reports that reflect the true value of your volunteer contributions. The default impact value is set at $30 per hour logged, but this can be adjusted on a per-opportunity basis. You can also choose whether the impact value is visible to admin users and volunteer users.
The impact value represents the estimated monetary value of each volunteer hour. This metric helps quantify the overall impact your organization is making and can be a valuable reporting tool for stakeholders, funders, and internal assessments.
To customize the impact value for specific opportunities, follow these steps:
Navigate to Opportunities
From your Vome admin dashboard, go to the Opportunities section.
Access the Impact Value Settings
Click Actions in the top-right corner.
Select Manage impact value from the dropdown menu.
Edit the Impact Value
You'll see a list of your current opportunities.
Enter a new impact value (e.g., $25/hour, $40/hour) for each opportunity as needed.
Save Changes
Make sure to save your changes to apply the new values to your reports.
You can report on the total impact value generated by volunteers using the "Shifts & hours by profile" report. This report provides a detailed overview of volunteer contributions, including the financial value based on the impact value metric you’ve configured.
Go to the Reports section from your admin dashboard.
Open the report titled "Shifts & hours by profile".
In the report, you’ll see:
Profile information: The volunteer’s name and associated profile details.
Hours logged: The total number of hours each volunteer has contributed.
Impact value ($): The calculated value of those hours, based on the impact value set for each opportunity.
The report automatically applies the customized impact value for each opportunity when calculating the total value.
You can export this report in Excel format for further analysis or to share with stakeholders.
You can control who can view the impact value metric within your organization:
Admin Users: Choose whether other admin users can view the customized impact value in reporting and opportunity details.
Volunteer Users: Decide whether volunteers should see the impact value associated with the hours they’ve logged.
These visibility settings help tailor the display of sensitive data depending on your organization's preferences.
Regularly review your impact values to ensure they reflect the current value of volunteer time in your region or sector.
Use impact value reports to highlight organizational impact in annual reports, grant applications, and board meetings.
Adjust visibility settings based on your transparency and communication goals with staff and volunteers.
